It
also strikes me that as a blog posted on behalf of the formula
companies, you have gone out of your way to demonstrate how
inconvenient breastfeeding can be (it's not, and clearly the board
should accomodate this woman). Mighty anti-woman and anti-baby for a
blog that claims to be in favor of "feeding freedom."

I
agree that asking for 20 minutes more is no big deal and should be
allowed for, especially with a seven week old baby - mother's supply
may not be totally stabilized, and not pumping frequently could
definitely have a negative effect. I am confused about this statement,
however: "Secondly, as a woman, I’m particularly peeved because men
would never be put in this dilemma." Of course men would never be put
in this dilemma - they don't lactate! So, who are you "peeved" at? Men,
because they (through no fault of their own) do not lactate, and
therefore would not be put in this situation because it would be
physically impossible? Or are you peeved at God/Mother Nature for
making it so that women lactate and men do not? As a woman myself, I
see it as more of a privilege, something that sets us apart distinctly
from men (the fact that biologically, we lactate and they do not, as a
general rule). So, if you are trying to make this into some kind of
"women's rights" thing, I don't get it. It is about a breastfeeding
mother's needs and has very little to do with women's rights. But if
you meant something different by the statement that I quoted and I'm
off track here, then I would be curious as to what the statement was
intended to mean.
