If you were committed to breastfeeding, you wouldn't have stopped for such a superficial reason.

I
pumped in an unlocked storeroom. My assistant knew my schedule, and
managed around that as much as possible. I worried about people walking
in. I worried more about not being able to provide my daughter the
mother's milk she needed. Maybe by pumping as long as you did, you
inspired another mom to pump even longer. It's too bad you allowed the
sick cultural obsession with breasts as sex objects, to inhibit you
from providing your child with breast milk. We need more mothers to ask
for good pumping rooms. Until we have "critical mass" pushing for it,
many employers aren't going to budge, even though breastfed infants
save them money on sick days and lost hours with their employees.

I'm
sorry you had such a bad pumping experience. I personally pumped at
work (in fear also) to HELP it become more mainstream. My breasts are
for feeding my daughter. If you hear something coming from my
office.... Well, oh well. And I got pretty good at typing one handed!
